The Mahintana Foundation Inc. ProPEACE Program hosted a three-day Intercultural Youth Exchange in Polomolok, South Cotabato, last October 5-7, 2022. Out-of-School Youth and In-School Youth, as well as members of the Tri-People of the identified barangays, Bentung, Lumakil, Sumbakil, Lapu, Landan, Magsaysay, Rubber, and Koronadal Proper, took part in this.

The activity provides intercultural learning experiences and opportunities, supporting young people in building solidarity, social justice, peace, and environmental sustainability. This also promotes the exchange of ideas, values, and culture amongst the different ethnicities and also develops an understanding of the different beliefs and traditions. Within the three-days, the delegates from the different barangays of the Municipality of Polomolok experienced and shared their different cultures and traditions. They were given an opportunity to make the famous delicacy of Maguindanaons called “Amik” or “Tinagtag”. The youth also participated in a tree planting activity called “Peace Forest” to promote camaraderie and build community spirit together with the MENRO, Allied Pacific, and Dolefil.

Arthur Dulo Gulili (Tribal Leader Grandson of Bai Yabing), Pr. Rick John Daliva (Polomolok Values Formation Member) and Ustads Mastura A. Alba (MCE Secretary) are the speakers who were invited to share about the Peace Building and Culture Sensitivity to the youth. The delegates felt empowered and enthusiastically embraced the challenge to bring change to their community.
