Mahintana Foundation, Inc. facilitated the Pineapple Fiber Classifiers’ Training in partnership with Dole Philippines, Inc. on August 4, 2022 at Tupi Integrated Agricultural Cooperative Board Room, National Highway, Municipality of Tupi, South Cotabato. The training was conducted by Mr. Adrian T. Fernandez of Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority (PhilFIDA). The training was participated by the representatives of Dole Philippines, cooperatives of Polomolok, South Cotabato namely PSNMPC, LPMPC, and TIAC. This training and examination aims to capacitate the cooperatives for the proper classification and grading of pineapple fibers to ensure good quality upon delivery of the product in the market.

The training discussed about the PhilFIDA’s Philippine National Standard (PNS) of Pineapple Fiber and did an actual classification examination of different Pineapple Fibers. 9 out of 14 examinees passed the examation with Ms. Angelie Sales, representative of Dole Philippines, led the perfect score. This training will be a stepping stone for the cooperative to have at least two (2) classifiers of pineapple fiber for the business start-up.
