As part of the capacity development support of the foundation with the Health and Education Promotion Officers (HEPOs) of partner cooperatives in Polomolok, Mahintana Foundation Inc. and Dole Philippines Inc. through Polomolok Task Force Kalusugan (PTFK) conducted a Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Seminar  in collaboration with the Office of the Civil Defense and Polomolok LGU on April 29, 2022 at Mamay’s Payag, Polomolok, South Cotabato.

HEPOs from , CAMPCO, AMCOOP, UNIFIED, FARB, PMSC and TIBUD cooperatives along with partner schools, Bonifacio R. Tagaban Integrated School, Pablo Valencia, Silway 8, Palkan, Upper Klinan, Nicolas Barreras and Polomolok National High School and Mahintana Foundation Inc. participated in the training seminar.

Mr. Roy Dorado from the Office of the Civil Defense along with Mr. Jeffrey P. Maslog of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office – Polomolok facilitated the training seminar. Mr. Dorado discussed the current condition of Polomolok in terms of its risk profile.  Most frequent disaster in the municipality – flash flooding was extensively discussed.  Earthquakes and volcanic eruption were also mentioned as a risk considering the proximity of Mt. Matutum.  Among the high-risk areas for flashflooding are the following: Brgy. Landan, Silway 8 and Poblacion since these are located near the lower terrain and riverbanks.

Mr. Maslog and the Municipal Disaster Reduction and Management Team provided a lecture on Basic First Aid and Emergency Response. Participants were instructed on proper bandaging methods for various injuries, as well as emergency response procedures.

Polomolok Task Force Kalusugan is a multi-stakeholder initiative that aims to provide support and technical assistance to the Local Government Unit of Polomolok addressing emerging health issues as well as disaster preparedness and response.
