On May 20, 2025, an actual Pinboo Training was successfully conducted at the Antonio O. Floirendo Foundation Compound in Panabo City, headed by Mr. Norman L. Clemente, Executive Director, in partnership with BASE Bahay Foundation, Inc.,

represented by Mr. Michael Angelo Pascual, Project Manager. The activity was part of an ongoing initiative to promote sustainable and resilient bamboo-based carpentry and construction techniques.
The session was conducted by Engr. Freddie Armea Jr. of BASE Bahay Foundation, Inc., who provided technical guidance throughout the activity. To foster collaboration and ensure practical application of the concepts learned, participants were divided into three groups. Each group successfully created one Pinboo panel, featuring two different finishing techniques.

Participants included members of the Culubi United People’s Integrated Farmers Association (CUPIFA), along with one representative each from Lawil d’Afus and the Bamboo Production Facility. The session was also attended by MFI President Mr. Matiniano L. Magdolot, MFI Executive Director Ms. Liza Duropan-Lopez, the ENVI DRR-CCA Program Team of MFI, and DOST Provincial Director PD Giselle Eve O. Siladan.
The training provided a hands-on learning experience on the complete seven-step Pinboo panel-making process, which consists of:
1. Bamboo selection and cutting
2. Bamboo culm splitting
3. Node trimming
4. Cutting to size
5. Bamboo pin preparation
6. Drilling and assembly
7. Finishing
The training enhanced participants’ understanding of quality bamboo processing and structural panel assembly, essential skills in the application of alternative building technologies. This activity marks another step forward in empowering local communities with practical, climate-adaptive solutions for shelter and livelihood.
