December 15, 2017 marks the ceremonial commencement of construction of 2 classroom buildings for Landan Elementary School in Brgy. Landan, Polomolok, South Cotabato. This is part of the 5ingkowelahan project funded by Dole Philippines, Inc. in partnership with Mahintana Foundation.
As a reciprocating action, at least 300 parents and students of the school participated in a Tree Growing Activity on the same day. A total of 2,500 hills of fruit and forest trees were planted at the forest park and riverbank located right across the school. The principal, Ms. Herlyn Berondo, thanked all those who made this project possible where many students will benefit from it. “The new structure will help them learn better and perform well at school,” she said.
The Groundbreaking Ceremony which followed afterwards was graced by top officials and management of ITOCHU, Dole Philippines Inc., Lead.Ph, Lead-Calumpang, DcoMPC, and Mahintana Foundation.
This project is under the Adopt-a-School program intended to promote quality education by providing classroom buildings to schools with limited resources and large student population.
