Around 120 households together with Barangay health workers, Barangay Kagawads and Purok Chairmen from Brgy. Cebuano, Tupi, South Cotabato, attended the Community Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) and Housefly Control General Assembly on October 16, 2017.
The speaker and Project Officer in-charge, Mr. Gil Artates, explained in detail the negative effects on poor hygienic practices and sanitation. This encouraged the participants to change their sanitation behavioral ways and they were obligated to install their own sanitary toilet. The discussion also created awareness that maintaining a clean environment will surely benefit everyone.
The activity is part of the HIMSOG-Tupi (Health Initiatives, Mitigations, Services and Opportunities for Growth of Tupi) Project to assist the barangay to totally ban open defecation with the intention to declare it as a Zero Open Defecation community before the month of November ends.
