Mahintana Foundation coordinated with eight (8) land owners/planters residing in Sitios Sta. Maria, Barangay Rangayen, Alamada, Cotabato and facilitated the 4-day Gully Tree Planting activity on April 3-6, 2017.
Before the activity began, the participants were oriented on the proper way of planting and learned about the role of trees as physical barriers to protect the soil from the impact of heavy rainfall particularly in sloping areas or gullies.
The group hauled, distributed and planted 3,100 assorted trees and bamboo seedlings in an estimated 3 km stretch of land area to the identified planting sites.
The tree planting activity is one of the interventions of the Foundation’s Technical Assistance for Dolefil Pineapple Expansion in North Cotabato. It was supported by LGU Rangayen and Sitio Leaders. Below is the total number of planted seedlings per day:
Date | Total planted seedlings (fruit/forest/bamboo) |
April 3 | 800 |
April 4 | 1,000 |
April 5 | 1,000 |
April 6 | 300 |
