PTFK lauds maternal care initiatives of LGU Polomolok

The Polomolok Task Force Kalusugan, a multi-agency support group that extends technical assistance to the Policy-Advocacy, Service Delivery,  and Monitoring and Evaluation   of community health concerns of LGU Polomolok recently lauded two initiatives launched by the LGU in addressing the concerns on maternal care through the blessing and formal opening of the Sasakyan ni Nanay and Bahay ni Nanay on September 5, 2015 in line with the conduct of the Buntis Day/ Buntis Congress at the MHO compound, Polomolok, South Cotabato. Mayor Honey Lumayag- Matti, who also spearheaded the launching and opening of two breastfeeding stations earlier (one at the Municipal Hall lobby and another inside the Public market), stressed that the LGU is doing everything within its means to reduce if not totally eradicate risks related to pregnancy and reduce incidences of maternal and neo-natal mortality. Through the Sasakyan and Bahay ni Nanay, pregnant women who are in their third term, and were noted to have risky pregnancies will be fetched by the LGU vehicle earlier and will stay in the halfway home (Bahay ni Nanay) while awaiting their scheduled delivery. The LGU will also provide assistance for their food while staying in the halfway home. Dr. Edwin Dipus, Municipal Health Officer and PTFK Co-Chairperson said that through this interventions, Polomolok will not only have better performance in the LGU Scorecard on Health but most importantly, is more capacitated to render better and efficient services to its constituents especially pregnant women.
