The assisted farmersβ association of Mahintana Foundation, through its MOVE Project funded by BPI Foundation, Inc., has taken a significant step toward fostering community development and food security. A Marketing Agreement signing ceremony was held at the Polomolok Municipal Jail in Magsaysay, Polomolok, South Cotabato, formalizing the partnership between the Food Day Association and the Polomolok Municipal Jail. This initiative was supported by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through its Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) program, as well as the Mahintana Foundation, Inc.
The agreement aims to ensure the regular delivery of fresh produce to Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) and personnel at the Polomolok Municipal Jail. Local farmers, who are members of the Food Day Association, will supply these goods, creating direct market linkages and supporting their livelihoods.
The agreement was signed by Ms. Marivic R. Verona, Jail Warden, and Mr. Francisco M. Sabuso, President of the Food Day Association, with key stakeholders serving as witnesses: Ms. Margie S. Managuit, Program Manager of Mahintana Foundation; Mr. Joseph L. Sumatra, Jail Mess Officer; and Mr. Ibrahim S. Sangcupan of DSWD-EPAHP Region XII.
This collaboration aligns with Mahintana’s mission to address hunger and poverty through innovative, community-based partnerships. The event underscored the collective commitment of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), Food Day Association, DSWD-EPAHP, Mahintana Foundation, and BPI Foundation to driving positive social change in both urban and rural communities.
