The Upper Sepaka Integrated School recently received 100 armchairs through the Chairs-for-Trees Project of Mahintana, funded by Tarami Corporation and Dole Philippines, Inc., in partnership with the Surallah Municipal Government through the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO).
The turnover ceremony, held at USIS, was attended by various stakeholders, including local government officials, school administrators, and community members. Mr. Erwin Balogo, Dole Philippinesβ Community Relations Superintendent, highlighted the importance of education and environmental conservation. He encouraged students to strive for academic excellence and urged the community to nurture the seedlings to protect the environment and safeguard their livelihoods.
Mr. Randy Porcelin, the USIS Teacher-in-Charge, expressed gratitude to the donors for their generosity and assured the organizations of the schoolβs commitment to supporting educational and environmental initiatives.
Municipal Mayor of Surallah, Hon. Pedro M. Matinong echoed these sentiments of gratitude, emphasizing the essential role of trees in the communityβs well-being and economic prosperity. He urged students to care for both the chairs and seedlings, recognizing the ecological and economic benefits of trees.
