The COMPACT Year 2 Project held a peer education session on October 26, 2024, at Sadok Restaurant along the National Highway, Polomolok, South Cotabato. The event, aimed at empowering community members with vital knowledge and skills, focused on gender sensitivity, adolescent reproductive health, teenage pregnancy, and life skills.
Participants from various local organizations, including the Landan People Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Tana Mahin Procedure Cooperative, Cassava Workers and Farmers Association, Kalipi Womenβs Association, and child-led groups from Barangays Rubber, Maligo, and Landan, attended the session.
The session covered pressing issues such as adolescent pregnancy, early marriage, and responsible parenthood. Key speakers included Mr. Janrassel L. Sara, Health Education Promotion Officer II of Polomolok MHO, who discussed the challenges of adolescent pregnancy; Mrs. Majalya Nathalie Pogoy-Coprado, RPM of MSWDO who elaborated on the implications of early marriage; and Mrs. Susan Bayanon, Admin Assistant II of Provincial Population Office who provided insights on responsible parenthood.
Through these informative presentations and interactive discussions, peer educators equipped community members with the tools they need to make informed decisions and promote positive change. By fostering a deeper understanding of adolescent reproductive health, early marriage, and responsible parenthood, the session empowered participants to address these challenges head-on and build a healthier, more empowered community.
