The Adopt-A-Hectare of Mahintana’s Ridge-to-Reef Program, in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Polomolok, along with Mr. Luoei Chua from Prk Ulo, Brgy. Landan, with the support of Dole Philippines, Inc., conducted a tree planting activity.
This program aims to rehabilitate degraded lands through reforestation and biodiversity enhancement, thereby contributing to carbon sequestration and erosion control. It engages local communities, raises environmental awareness, and creates livelihood opportunities, aligning with sustainable agriculture and eco-tourism potential. The program enhances technical knowledge, supports mapping and planting of diverse species, increases support for environmental preservation, and establishes community-based monitoring systems. Moreover, it provides a platform for involving youth, fostering community participation, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of reforestation efforts.
The activity was attended by the Red Cross Youth, MYOP, PYAP, 4H Poblacion, 4H rubber, MENREs, SK POBLACION, and some PWUDS. Also present were Board Member Allan M. Ines, Atty. Leo Cordova, IPMR Jerome Ante, and SB Jingle Banzuela, along with government agencies like BFP and BJMP, and other private stakeholders. The event successfully planted 2 hectares of land inside MMPL at Purok Ulo, Landan, with a total of 2000 hills of assorted fruit and forest trees. With this partnership, LGU Polomolok opted for Modality 1, where they will provide both the seedlings and maintenance of the planted trees for next 2 years.
