On October 19, 2024, the COMPACT Project Year 2 successfully held a peer education session at SG Farm, Tupi, South Cotabato. Participants from various organizations, including the Matutum Malgad Farmers Association, Barangay Health Worker Association, Indigenous People Women’s Association and Optimist Mountain Farmer’s Association Cooperative, gathered to discuss critical issues like gender and culture sensitivity, adolescent reproductive health, and teenage pregnancy.
Key topics included Internet Addiction, led by Mr. John Mark L. Rufino, MPA, Local Youth Development Officer and Adolescent Pregnancy, led by Ms. April Lyn P. Bantawig, RN, RM of Tupi Municipal Health Office. Moreover, Ms. Susan B. Bayan, Provincial Population Officer, discussed child early forced marriage and union. The goal was to empower Child Lead Groups (CLGs), Civil Society Organizations (CSGs), and Community Support Groups to address these pressing concerns.
The peer education format encouraged an open and interactive environment where participants shared their perspectives and addressed concerns. By the end of the session, participants consolidated their insights and updated their action plan for a series of follow-up activities. This initiative not only raised awareness but also empowered attendees to actively contribute to solutions within their communities.
