To formally discuss the issues and concerns about the gullies in the six barangays, Mahintana facilitated the Barangay Bantay Gully Task Force (BBGTF) 1st regular meeting at Mahintana Conference Room, Cannery Housing on January 31, 2020. The meeting was attended by Councilor Hon. Alan M. Ines, the Chairperson of the Committee on Environmental Protection, Natural Resources, Ecological & Solid Waste Management & Disater Risk Reduction and Climate Change, MENRO-Polomolok, the BBGTF members, and project officer of Mahintana.
The issues discussed included the illegal activities such as garbage dumping, charcoal making, and quarrying. The participants also discussed matters such as flooding, the need to install riffraff, and the like. Hon. Ines said that the BBGTF is about to end on February 14, 2020 but they have seen the its significance and said that the LGU will continue the said task force. He also shared that all topdowns should be registered for better illegal activities monitoring. One of the recommendations is that a common BBGTF hotline shall be established for reporting illegal activities.
