The COMPACT Year 2 Project of Mahintana, together with Save the Children Philippines, successfully concluded two significant activities: the Capacity Building on Current Situationer, Legal Bases, and Other Related Laws on CEFMU, GBV, and ASRHR with CSGs and CSOs (Rural), and the Enhancement Workshop and Formulation of Joint Action Plan Based on their Development Advocacy Agenda with CLGs and CSGs last June 4-6, 2024 at SunCity Suites General Santos City.

The Capacity Building activity aimed to equip Community Support Groups (CSGs) and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) with comprehensive knowledge on child-related laws, focusing on Child, Early, and Forced Marriage (CEFMU), Gender-Based Violence (GBV), and Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (ASRHR). By promoting child safety and legal awareness, the event sought to strengthen the community’s capacity to protect and support children and adolescents. Additionally, it recognized the vital role of Child-Led Groups (CLGs) in advocating for children’s rights within the community.

The subsequent Enhancement Workshop and Formulation of Joint Action Plan brought together CLGs, CSGs, and CSOs to refine their development advocacy agenda. This collaborative workshop fostered the creation of a unified and actionable plan, aimed at addressing community challenges and promoting sustainable development through enhanced skills and strategic planning.

Overall, the activities were successfully conducted, with participants expressing their gratitude, especially regarding the acknowledgment of children’s rights and safety.
