To raise the level of awareness of teenage groups regarding adolescent sexuality & reproductive health and help improve their quality of life & well-being, Mahintana Foundation through its Polomolok Task Force Kalusugan (PTFK) project organized an interschool Song Composition and Spoken Poetry Competitions joined in by students from public and private secondary schools as well as the Out-of-School youth in Polomolok, South Cotabato. All the entries reflecting the theme: “Sining at Musika Para Sa Kabataan: Rated PG #Pagibig Goals” went through a pre-selection process done by a panel of judges, with expertise in literary and music industry.
The winning entries, both for Song Composition and Tagalog Spoken Poetry will be the highlight of the Adolescent Reproductive Health (ARH) Day celebration on August 25, 2017 which will be held at Polomolok Gymnasium, South Cotabato.
Tagalog Spoken Poetry
Ten (10) schools participated in the “Tagalog Spoken Poetry” competition and underwent a preliminary round of judging which was conducted on July 21, 2017 at MFI conference room. The participants delivered their spoken word and performed live. Their entries were original compositions based on the theme which covers topics on love, self-esteem, healthy thinking and relationship with the family. Out of 10 entrants, the top 5 were from Upper Klinan National High School, Poblacion Polomolok National High School, St. Lorenzo School of Polomolok, Matutum View Baptist Academy and Bentung Sulit National High School.
Song Composition
There were seven (7) song entries from different schools for the “Song Composition” contest. The video-recorded performance entries were evaluated by judges, who are musically inclined professionals with expertise in song writing, singing and performing. The judges listened to each song entry during the preliminary round of judging held on July 24, 2017 at Café Amoree, General Santos City and selected top 5 song entries based on the following criteria: song content’s clarity and relevance to the theme, quality of the tune and its originality. The chosen top 5 were from Dole Philippines School, Poblacion Polomolok National High School, St. Lorenzo School of Polomolok, Landan National High School and Polomolok National High School.
