The South-eastern Philippines Health and Economic Alternatives (HEAL) Project through Mahintana Foundation, Inc. and the Local Government of Maasim in coordination with the Provincial Health Office (PHO) of Sarangani and the DOH-Center for Health Development XII has facilitated the conduct of a Community Forum on Influenza A H1N1, Tuberculosis and Mosquito-borne Diseases i.e. Malaria, Filariasis and Dengue last July 29, 2009 at the Municipal Gymnasium, Maasim, Sarangani Province. The HEAL Project is supported by the Delegation of the European Commission to the Philippines.
The said activity was participated by a total of 128 individuals representing the HEAL Community Health Volunteers (CHVs), Barangay Health Workers, Barangay Nutrition Scholars, LGU officials, department heads, academe and other sectors of the community. A total of 16 barangays are represented in the said forum, where detailed discussions on the nature, symptoms, prevention and management of Influenza A H1N1, Tuberculosis, Malaria, Filariasis and Dengue were discussed in full details by the respective resource persons: Ms. Russel Bustria from the Department of Health (DOH) Center for Health Development XII-Sarangani (CHD); Mr. Federico Yadao, Provincial Medical Technologist of the Provincial Health Office (PHO); Dr. Jaileen Milar, Municipal Health Officer of Maasim and Ms. Anecita Nierra, RN of the Maasim Rural Health Unit (RHU).
