On September 21, 2024, Mahintana Foundation’s ProPEACE Programme Phase 2 facilitated the turnover of livelihood support to the Moro Youth Organization of Polomolok (MYOP), which included the provision of monoblock chairs, foldable tent, and tables at Barangay Lapu, Polomolok, South Cotabato. This initiative forms part of ProPEACE’s livelihood training for the youth including MYOP, aimed at empowering the organization to continue its efforts in advancing youth initiatives in Polomolok.
On the same day, five Madrasah, including Maharlika Islamic Learning Center, Sultan Datu Utto M. Abedin Sr. Heritage School, Madrasatol Arrahmaniya Al-Islamiya, Madrasatol Amni Al-Islamiya, and Madrasatol Maguindanawia Liderasatil Islamia, participated in the Madrasah ALPABASA Launching and received ALPABASA reading kits. These Madrasah have been supported by AY Foundation, Dole Philippines, and Mahintana Foundation through the provision/renovation of Madrasah buildings and ALPABASA Teachers Training Program, support by Read to Achieve Foundation and the Assumption Alumnae Association of Assumption College, Makati City, Metro Manila.
Both remarkable events were supported and attended by the Polomolok Muslim Council of Elders, led by its Chairman, Datu Ambas Cartil; 38th Infantry Battalion, led by its Commanding Officer 1LT Michael P. Jordan (SC) PA; Dole Philippines Inc., represented by Mr. Erwin Balogo, Community Relations Superintendent; Mahintana Foundation, Inc., led by its Executive Director, Ms. Liza Duropan-Hora; MYOP, led by its President, Mr. King Saud Mariano; and Barangay Lapu Council. The events were also graced by the presence of Asatidz, kindergarten students of the five Madrasahs, and their parents.
The launching of the ALPABASA Program marks a significant Madrasah’s step towards achieving the goal of “Every Filipino Child, A Reader”, aligning with ProPEACE’s mission of fostering access to peace initiatives, including education, for tri-people communities.
