Following the Training of Trainers on Tarbiyah conducted by Maguindanaon Development Foundation in collaboration with the Ulama and Ustadz of Sarangani through the ProPEACE (Promoting Peace Engagements and Community Empowerment) programme, a Tarbiyah roll-out was supported in the madaris of Brgy. Tokawal, Alabel, and Brgy. Sapu Padidu, Malapatan Sarangani Province on April 22, 2022 and April 28, 2022, respectively.

Tarbiyah refers to the nurturing and development of children in accordnace with Islamic teachings through responsible parenting. Among the attendees were parents, students and madaris teachers as well as local leaders of the Muslim communities.

The trained Ulama and Ustadz delivered lectures on Islamic values and principles, the relevance of observance the holy month of Ramadan, Muslims’ responsibility in self-development, and the rewards of devotion to God during the sessions.

After the lectures of the various speakers, an iftar or fast-breaking meal was provided to end the sessions.

With the support from GCERF (Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund), ProPEACE aims to contribute to the improvement of peace, security, tolerance, and respect for the diversity of Tri-People (Muslims, Indigenous Peoples, and Christians) in the 8 municipalities of Sarangani and South Cotabato. The project is implemented by Mahintana Foundation as lead recipient along with the consortium of CSOs (civil society organizations) – Kasilak Development Foundation Inc., OND Hesed Foundation, Maguindanaon Development Foundation and Tribal Leaders Development Foundation.
