Legislative Information Tracking System (LITS) Orientation to Vice Mayors League of the Philippines South Cotabato Chapter

The RESOURCEGov2 project team conducted the Legislative Information Tracking System (LITS) orientation to the Vice Mayors League of the Philippines (VLMP) South Cotabato Chapter on January 26, 2018 at Tantangan SB Hall. There were nine (9) vice mayors present during the session.

?Vice Mayor Eliordo “Bebot” Ogena of Koronadal City, the VMLP South Cotabato President, welcomed the RESOURCEGov2 Team to their session and expressed his interest to learn about the system as it would greatly help in the efficient monitoring of their legislation. Mr. Roel Ian Blanker, RESOURCEGov2 Project Manager, updated the vice-mayors of the success of LITS activity on January 25, 2018 participated by twenty – three (23) municipalities from the Provinces of South Cotabato and Sultan Kudarat and the same activity for North Cotabato municipalities which is scheduled on February 1, 2018. Mr. Blanker presented a short overview including the five interventions of RESOURCEGov Phase 2 Project and discussed the system features, functions, advantages and benefits. He emphasized that LITS software is for free, however, no hardware units will be given. He added that the MLGUs may or may not acquire new computers as the existing units can be used. In addition, there is no need for an SB resolution to be passed for the adoption of the LITS in their respective municipalities because DILG Region 12 has signed a Memorandum of Understanding regarding the implementation of LITS in the region. He suggested to the league that to efficiently utilize the system in their respective municipalities, it is better to issue an administrative order creating a team for the management of the system. This suggestion was the result of the open forum conducted after the LITS orientation and installation activity for Sultan Kudarat and South Cotabato last January 25. Lastly, Mr. Blanker also informed the vice mayors that the team will visit each LGU to monitor the implementation of the system as a follow-through activity. The team then thanked the VMLP South Cotabato Chapter for giving time to present the system during the session. Hon. Ogena replied that they should be the ones to thank the project as it will greatly help them to efficiently provide public services in legislative information dissemination, transparency and tracking. He also assured the project team, in behalf of all the vice mayors of South Cotabato, that the team is always welcome to visit each municipality to monitor the use of the system and provide technical assistance to the LGUs when needed.

The same LITS orientation will be presented to the VMLP Sultan Kudarat and North Cotabato Chapters.
