On February 26, 2017, Mahintana Foundation, Inc. organized the first General Assembly of the Dole Gawad Housing beneficiaries held at Dole Gawad Pagibig (DGP) subdivision, Brgy. Cannery, Polomolok, South Cotabato. A total of 121 beneficiaries were oriented about the DGP project, their financial obligations and specific roles and tasks in building a productive and sustainable community.

Mr. Nicolas Ledesma, Sarangani Resources Corporation (SRC) staff, presented the Deeds of Covenant, restrictions and conditions and discussed the enforced contents in the covenant in protecting the property values. The participants reviewed, agreed and affixed their signatures in all the pages of the agreement.

Officers were later elected through the usual nomination and votation in order to develop new leaders to organize the community. The induction of newly elected officers will be held in simultaneous with the turn-over ceremony of the Batch 2 beneficiaries on March 28, 2017.

Dole Philippines, Inc., represented by the Corporate Affairs Division through the Industrial Relations Department, conceptualized and developed a community organizing project for the beneficiaries of the Dole Gawad Pagibig Housing Program responding to the challenge experienced by most rank and file employees living in either rented or stayed for free dwelling units and/or lots situated in urban poor sites. The project aims to help strengthen employees’ morale and dignity by providing a quality and affordable lot and housing units thereby increasing productivity and performance.

To date, at least 40% out of the 144 of the beneficiaries have occupied their housing units after the turn-over of the 1st Batch on December 5, 2016. Most of the occupants have improved their housing conditions making their area a safe and comfortable place to live in. They also recognized their involvement in implementing various development plans and activities as necessary for the promotion and progress of the community.
