Mahintana Foundation, Inc. in coordination with Dole Philippines Inc. and the Municipality of Polomolok’s Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (LDDRMO), recently conducted the Earthquake Preparedeness and Fire Safety Seminar and Drill on November 13, 2017. The activity, which took place at MFI Conference Room, aims to orient the Mahintana staff on how to respond to eventualities for it is best to be prepared and react appropriately during and after any occurrence of an earthquake or fire.
The resource person, Mr. Rodelen Atimonan, OIC-LDRRMO, oriented the staff on the correct procedures to be followed when a major earthquake occurs. Also, he emphasized the importance of storing emergency supplies and kits and creating an emergency plan.
Moreover, the staff also learned the basic tips to prevent fire as well as on what to do and where to run to place themselves in safety in case there is a fire. They also had an actual handling and discharging of fire extinguishers at Dr. George Calderon Park where most of the staff including the security personnel of the foundation actively participated. The fire extinguisher drill was facilitated by Mr. Patrick Mayol, Health and Safety Officer and his team from Dole Philippines, Inc.
